MIUI 10: The AI Goodness
Xiaomi’s claims that the MIUI 10 is powered by AI and this should make it superlative in some aspects. The UI has gone under the knife and new features tailor-made for bezel-less displays have arrived. Xiaomi users can now long press for more options, swipe to delete tasks and the MIUI automatically maximized the screen space. Xiaomi is also offering full-screen display gestures which will allow users to disable the navigation key and enjoy increased display real estate.
MIUI 10: AI-Backed Bokeh mode for Single Lens Setup
The AI features have been extended to the camera app as well. MIUI 10 will now let you create portraits with new bokeh effects. This feature is however reserved for select devices and Xiaomi will soon come out with a compatibility list. Xiaomi has also announced a new AI-backed automatic scene recognition and the best part is that this feature is compatible even with single lens camera. In essence, Xiaomi is promising a bokeh (portrait) feature for older Xiaomi smartphones as well.
The Performance Gain wuth MIUI 10
Apart from the utility, another aspect that any Custom ROM or UI is expected to impress is the performance. Xiaomi claims that all the AI goodness means that the load time is reduced to zero. In all likelihood, the MIUI 10 caches some of the most frequently opened apps and thus achieves the impressive zero load time.
MIUI 10 and the Mi Ecosystem Control Hub
Well, Xiaomi is no stranger to IoT and smart connected devices. They have been aggressively hosting crowdfunding platforms and also own Mijia. With the MIUI 10, Xiaomi users can control all of their Mi device Ecosystem from a hub. The idea is similar to Apple’s HomeKit, where the Ecosystem devices can be paired and controlled with one click. As per the demo shown at the event, users will receive a pop-up to control the ecosystem device as soon as it’s turned on.
MIUI 10: Driving Mode
Xiaomi has introduced a new Driving Mode that will make use of the Xiaomi AI voice assistant. With this, you can control the Xiaomi device wirelessly in the car and also use other essential services like the navigation, replying to messages and access to other features. Moreover, the newly introduced swiping gesture will probably help the driver control the phone in a much better way. The internal beta version of the MIUI 10 will be available in China starting from June 1. The public beta will be released for Mi 8, Mi Mix 2S and Redmi Note 5 in late July. As far as Global ROM is concerned, it is expected to arrive only after July 2018.
