Top Android Math Apps Top Android Physics Apps Top Android Chemistry Apps

After finishing up with the Android side, we turn our eye over to the other camp: iOS. Users from around the world can now rejoice, knowing what are the best apps that can help them with these subjects. We start off with the best math apps for iOS devices and hopefully, in a few days we will have completed the entire series.

Top iOS math apps

Despite the fact that the iTunes Store offers lots of apps that target kids and have low level math support, we scoured the store for the best math apps for higher levels of education and came up with a list that will cover the needs of pretty much any user. And now, without further ado, here is our list for the best iOS math apps!

6. Mathematics – Oxford Dictionary

Have you heard of the Oxford English Dictionary? If so, then it will be easy for you to understand what this app can do. This is a complete mathematical dictionary with over 3000 entries, covering every nook and corner of Mathematics. All the entries are arranged alphabetically and they are jargon-free, so you can easily understand very complex formulae. Some even have graphs and charts to help you remember them more easily. One great feature of this app is the possibility to use it offline, making it much more accessible when not in range of a Wi-Fi or 3G network.

5. iMaths for iPad

Are you having trouble with math theory? You can’t remember all those long and hard theorems and formulas? If so, iMaths is app for you! A collection of over 1900 formulas and images covering just about all mathematical fields is just a tap away. I keep wondering where was this app when I was struggling with the Fourier and Laplace transforms…but luckily for you, you won’t have these problems if you are using iMaths. Try it out and see how useful this app can be, especially for engineering students (trust me, I’m one also). Apart from this, you can also organize formulas and add notes to them, so it will be easier for you to find them when you need to.

4. Symbolic Calculator HD for iPad

As an engineering student, I had to use quite a lot of apps and programs to performs complex calculations, and the best I found so far is MathCad. Until now, I have never seen something that could come close to it, but to my surprise, I came across Symbolic Calculator HD. An iOS math app that give you the possibility to performs complex calculation in a great environment where you can see clearly what you are doing. Also, it gives you the possibility to plot graphs or remember calculation in the app’s history. I highly recommend this app for people in search of a good way to make calculations with next to no effort.

3. meStudying: Algebra 1

High school algebra is something that I used to hate, and I’m sure there are many like me out there. Luckily for you, there is this awesome tool that allows you to learn this subject once and for all. I am talking about meStudying: Algebra 1. A app that puts your knowledge to the test, but can also give you straightforward answers when you need them the most. You can also keep track of your scores, so you can see how much you have improved over time. By using such an app, you can be sure that you have all the chances of landing that perfect score next time you take an algebra test!

2. MathStudio

MathStudio was featured in our Android top of the best math apps also. Although there it took the last place, due to it’s high price in comparison with the other apps featured, here we placed it among the best (after all, we are talking about iOS apps, and as you can see, not many are free from this top). MathStudio retains all its features that we’ve discussed about, covering almost all areas of mathematics and giving its users a complete compendium of knowledge. I think this is the best math app ever, the only thing dragging it down is the pretty high price tag. But, again, I think it’s worth it!

1. Free Graphing Calculator

Although I have a feeling we will see this app again in our physics apps countdown, a good graph calculator has many uses. Especially this one, which features an integrated unit converter, a math reference book and a list of constants. All these tools help you get the upper edge when you are doing complex math calculations and it will definitely prove its worth next time your are taking an exam. In terms of ease of use and user interface, the apps is very simple. It’s obvious that the developers put some thought in making the app easily accessible for everyone and this can be seen everywhere you look. Getting the right information fast is sometimes crucial, especially when you are in an exam and you need to make calculation quickly or you want to re-check a formula. We hope that these apps will help you to gain a few extra credits on your math exams, but also help you learn some of the more difficult theories in mathematics. Also, if you use some other math apps that you think should be in this top, please let us know using the comments section and we will add them to the list as soon as possible.
