Android tablets may be selling like hotcakes, but that doesn’t mean developers are developing apps for them. Case in point, Twitter only now just announced that there’s a tablet version of their app for Android devices, but there’s a huge catch. It’ll only run on one tablet, Samsung’s newly available Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. Not the Nexus 7 (2012 or 2013 Editions). Not any of the Kindle Fires. Not even Samsung’s old Note 10.1, just the one that launched this week.
When will other Android tablets get this app? Some of you are probably already hunting for the APK, and I salute you, but that’s not how the majority of Android users operate. If it isn’t in the Play Store, then it doesn’t exist. Twitter says “it will come to other Android tablets by the end of the year.” That’s pretty clear, and we already know there’s less than 90 days until the calendar says 2014, so now we just wait. Patiently. Besides a tablet optimized UI, what else is in this release? Supposedly there’s a new widget, though no screenshots were provided. And there’s also a new image editor that supports the S-Pen. Will that image editor remain for non S-Pen equipped tablets? We’ll have to wait and see. We all know why Samsung did this, right? Money. Lots of it. Delicious money too.
