As per court filing stated on Friday, US magistrate judge in Boston in February ordered Apple to help law enforcement officer in inspecting the iPhone used apparently by a gang member. This new emerges after the US government revoked legal action against the Cupertino giant, Apple in the San Bernardino case, after it announced investigators that it has successfully obtained data from the iPhone of the San Bernardino shooter by seeking help from unknown “outside party”. According to documents published online on Friday by the American Civil Liberties Union, a judge in Boston on February 1 ordered Apple to assist police to obtain data from an iphone who was reportedly a gang member. Th filing in the New York case states that “The government’s application is not moot and the government continues to require Apple’s assistance in accessing the data that it is authorized to search by warrant,”. The drug trafficker in New York was put behind the bars as he has also admitted his crime and authorities are now preparing to punish him said Apple lawyers. So, Apple is being ordered to obtain the data from the iPhone for the purpose of sentencing him. As per lawyers, the Justice Department’s appeal refuted the FBI’s claims that the case was about only one device and with aim to prevent the attacks like this in future. Apple is expected to file court papers contradicting the petition appointed by the Justice Department by April 15.
