There are quite a few updates out there this week, including multiple Sony devices T-Mobile’s variant of the G3. They’re part of our weekly roundup of major software updates for the biggest devices, including phones tablets on U.S. carriers, unlocked phones, even wearables. Making sure your device is running the latest available software is a good housekeeping practice, ensuring you have the latest features with fewer bugs gaping security holes.


Galaxy Note 4: It was quite the wait, but llipop is finally here for everybody’s favorite phablet. Verizon says the update includes all the Material Design features of Android 5.0, along with advanced calling some additional widgets for Samsung’s apps.  G2: It’s always good to see a previous-generation phone getting some love. Verizon details all the changes, which blend ’s custom interface with splashes of Material Design.


G3: You’re finally getting llipop, but there’s a catch. If you want it right now you have to download install it with ’s update tool. If that sounds too cumbersome, you can wait for an over-the-air update, which T-Mobile says is coming April 7.


HTC One M7: l the attention may be on the HTC One M9, but fortunately the original is scoring llipop. AT&T posted all the details, which actually entails two updates. One is for memory optimization, a second brings the upgrade to Android 5.0.


Galaxy S5 Sport: Your rugged smartphone is finally getting llipop. Be on the lookout for an over-the-air update from Sprint, which brings Android 5.0 the usual device optimizations.
