First rumored back in August of this year, the Hello Kitty version of the HTC Butterfly s was announced a month later in September and since then I’ve been eager to see what it looks like in the flesh. It appears that the phone is finally out now, and Nicole Scott from MobileGeeks got her hands on one. Instead of doing the standard unboxing in a sterile studio, she went to a Hello Kitty café in Taiwan and recorded the whole thing.
Stepping back a little, what exactly is the Butterfly s? Take the HTC One and blow it up to 5.0 inches, swap out the metal body for one made out of plastic, increase the capacity of the battery to 3200 mAh, remove the optical image stabilization from the four megapixel UltraPixel camera, add a microSD card slot, and that’s the Butterfly s. In my honest opinion, it’s what the One should have been from the very beginning, though with a better camera, obviously. Where and when can you buy this limited edition Butterfly s? Nicole says only 3,000 were made and that they’re each selling for over $760 in Taiwan, so your chances of buying this device is incredibly low. Don’t fret, however, I’m sure if you really put your mind to it you could find a professional to paint your phone for you. And as for the custom wallpapers, I’m off to send an email to Nicole right now, asking her if she can take them off the phone’s memory and send them to me!
