After teasing the arrival of the world’s first under-display fingerprint scanner phone, Vivo has officially unveiled the X20 Plus UD. The device has been spotted multiple times already, including at the CES earlier this month. However, the company made the official announcement of the phone at a Beijing event on Wednesday. The handset uses Synaptics’ Clear ID 9500 fingerprint scanner for under-display fingerprint scanning, and is believed to work seamlessly, although we haven’t gotten our hands on the device as of yet. The device will be available in China starting Feb 1 with a price tag of 3,598 CNY ($568), which puts it in the league of most Chinese flagships. Here are the specifications of the Vivo X20 Plus UD:

6.46-inch Full HD+ (2160 x 1080) AMOLED display w/ 18:9 aspect ratio 12MP + 5MP dual rear cameras and a 12MP front camera Octa-core Snapdragon 660 SoC 4GB of RAM 128GB of storage (expandable via microSD) Android 7.1 Nougat 3,900 mAh battery

Vivo hasn’t talked much about the global release of the phone, but we expect the device to venture into most Asian markets in due time. It’s a little surprising that Vivo hasn’t gone with a high-end hardware specs sheet for the X20 Plus UD. However, the fact that it comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner is certainly going to make it stand out in the industry. Does the smartphone strike your fancy? Let us know!
