Vivo X9S and Vivo X9S Plus comes with a familiar design. That said, Vivo has succeeded in making them slimmer than its predecessor, despite including a slightly larger battery. The Vivo X9S and X9S Plus are just 6.99mm and 7.25mm in thickness. They come in a metal unibody design that bears the U design antenna lines at the top and bottom edges. The camera placement also remains the same. The Vivo X9S has a smaller footprint among the duo. It features a 5.5 inch Full HD (1,920 x 1,080p) IPS display that’s flanked by a capsule shaped fingerprint sensor at the bottom. Internally, the Vivo X9S is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 octa core processor and 4GB RAM. The mid-range smartphone comes with 64GB of internal storage. The Vivo X9S also boats an AK4376 audio chip which promises Hi-Fi audio quality. To power, these all, Vivo has included a 3,320mAh battery inside the aluminium body.

On the other hand, the Vivo X9S Plus comes with a markedly larger 5.85-inch Full HD (1,920 x 1,080p) display. Further, it comes with a new generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processor. In what seems to be a strange move, Vivo has decided to cut down the RAM from 6GB to 4GB in the Vivo X9S Plus. The internal storage is however same as its predecessor at 64GB. The X9S Plus also gets an ES9318 audio chip and a modestly larger 4,015mAh battery.

Nonetheless, the main highlight of the Vivo X9S and X9S Plus are their cameras. For those unaware, Vivo just like its sister brand Oppo pays are a lot of attention towards the camera and sound quality of their smartphones. And the Vivo X9S and X9S Plus are no exceptions. Both these smartphones come with a dual front camera setup. Out of the two front facing shooters, one of them comes with a 20MP sensor while the other with a 5MP one. Vivo is offering an improved portrait mode in its camera app for taking selfies utilising the dual selfie camera setup. The rear camera, on the other hand, comes with a 16MP sensor with a dedicated DSP image optimisation chip. It is capable of shooting RAW images.

The Vivo X9S and X9S Plus smartphones are priced at 2699 Yuan (Rs 25,650/$399) and 2998 Yuan (Rs 28,500/$439) respectively. These come in three color hues namely gold, rose gold and matte black. The Vivo X9S is already up for pre-orders on the official website whereas pre-orders for the X9S Plus starts July 14. The X9S and X9S Plus will be available for sale in China starting July 8 and July 20 respectively.
