Unlike previous phones from Vivo, the Y83 was announced silently in its homeland without much fanfare. The Vivo Y83 has been designed to target the young adults and therefore comes in three color hues, namely Aurora White, Polar Black and Red. The lower-midrange smartphone features a large 6.22-inch 19:9 HD+ IPS display on top. The panel has minimal bezels on all its sides except for the chin, thereby resulting in an impressive screen-to-body ratio. The Vivo Y83 is powered by a 12nm MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core processor. This amongst the latest mid-range chips announced by the Chinese firm earlier this week. It comes with eight Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2.0GHz each. The rear of the smartphone houses a 13MP rear camera equipped with LED flash. Besides, there’s an 8MP sensor on the front that’s backed by a solid AI tech and a face recognition algorithm. In fact, the mid-range device misses out on a fingerprint sensor and totally depend on Face Unlock as the primary mode of security.

Vivo has included a decently large 3,260mAh battery inside the smartphone. Moreover, the Y83 comes with a dedicated microSD slot, along with dual SIM slots. As for the price, the Vivo Y83 starts at 1,498 Yuan (Rs 16,000/$235). The device is already up for sale on Vivo’s China website and will come with a free protective case and an earphone within the box.
